UK Service Updates
Some mail posted in parts of Wales, the Midlands, the South West and North of England for delivery in North East Scotland, the Orkneys and Shetland Isles may arrive later than expected. This is due to technical issues with a flight from East Midlands airport to Aberdeen on Thursday.
A small amount of mail posted in the South East for delivery in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned. This is due to issues on the M25 on Thursday evening resulting in the late arrival of two vehicles at the Princess Distribution Centre.
A small amount of mail posted in the DH, DL, NE, SR and TS postcode areas for delivery in North Wales and North West England will arrive later than scheduled. This is due to a vehicle from Newcastle Mail Centre arriving late at the North West Distribution Centre on Thursday.
The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
International Service Updates
GENERAL: Due to the recent attacks in Brussels, there are increased security measure in place across Europe. Flights to Belgium are subject to to delays, diversions and cancellations. Delays to mail processing and delivery is to be expected. We will advise according if and when new information becomes available.
UPDATE: The Belgium Post Office have informed us that following the terrorist attacks on Brussels Airport, all air traffic has been cancelled for the 23rd & 24th March. We expect there to be heavy disruptions to the delivery of mail & parcels. Ongoing (issue start date: 22/03/16 – updated 23/03/16)
GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, there is a possibility that further strike action and/or security issues may cause further delays going forward. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise.
Delays are still expected on the crossing from France to UK, which would have a knock on effect on the availability of outward bound transport. There is no end date for this as the situation is continuing indefinitely. Ongoing (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 10/12/15)
Australia – We have been advised of an upcoming strike by Australian Border Force planned for the 24th March and it is likely to cause delays for all parcels and mail sent to Australia. Ongoing (issue start date: 24/03/16)
Belgium – Due to the double explosion at Brussels airport, all air traffic has been stopped or deviated to other Belgium airports. The situation is on going and will be develop as more information becomes available. Ongoing (issue start date: 22/03/16)
China – Please be advised due to inspections being carried by Shanghai Customs, delays of up to 10 working days are to be expected on all air shipments destined to postcodes starting ’20’. Resolved (issue start date: 17/03/16)
Cuba – The designated operator of Cuba, Correos de Cuba, has advised that cargo handling services will be suspended at the José Martí International Airport in Havana from the 17th to 24th March 2016 for infrastructure upgrade. Service delays are expected. Resolved (issue start date: 17/03/16)
Egypt – Due to the suspension of flights from the UK to Egypt, delays to mail is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/11/15)
Fiji – Fiji Post have informed us that the country has suffered widespread damage in the wake of tropical cyclone Winston. This is likely to result in delays to mail services until further notice. Ongoing (issue start date: 20/02/16)
France – Delays are expected at the Nantes Rollin, Blois, La Garenne Levallois Soti, Les Pennes Mirabeau & Nice Barthelemy distribution centres due to industrial action. Ongoing (issue start date: 21/03/16)
Honduras – The designated operator of Honduras, HONDUCOR, has advised that the Government of the Republic of Honduras has declared the week of 21 to 25 March 2016 a national holiday. Postal activities will return to normal on 28 March 2016. Service delays are expected Ongoing (issue start date: 21/03/16 – updated 28/03/16)
Italy – A nationwide general strike of rail, aviation, local transportation and ferry workers is set to affect travel throughout Italy. Public transport will be disrupted in the following cities and regions: Bolzano, Calabria, Carasco, Carrara, Catania, Lombardia, Naples, Romagna and Rome. Delays to mail are to be expected. Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)
Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.
UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)
Somalia – All mail services to Somalia are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)
Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)
Venezuela – The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has declared the week of March 21st to 25th 2016 a national holiday. Dispatches will continue to be received at the VEMAIA office of exchange at the Maiquetía “Simón Bolívar” International Airport, but there will be no distribution/delivery or customs processing during the holiday, as part of an effort to reduce electricity consumption in the country.
