Service Updates

GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, there is a possibility that further strike action and/or security issues may cause further delays going forward. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise.  Ongoing (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 26/10/15)

There are delays again at the Eurotunnel between the UK and France. Delays in delivery of mail to and from the UK is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 20/10/15 – updated 26/10/15)

Australia – The Australian Border Force have advised Australia Post that industrial action by its staff will be taking place in the inbound Australian offices of exchange from Wednesday 4th November, during peak processing times for inbound mail. Australia Post are expecting delays to mail processing for the next week. Ongoing (issue start date: 05/11/15)

Belgium – Due to industrial action there are delays in the processing and delivery of mail in Belgium. Resolved (issue start date: 26/10/15)

China – High volumes of mail arriving in Shanghai and Guangzhou are resulting in backlogs and capacity issues for China Post. Delays to mail services are likely. Ongoing (issue start date: 03/11/14)

El Salvador – The designated operator for El Salvador, Correos El Salvador, has advised that unions representing the staff of the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Development have called an indefinite strike. This will affect the collection and delivery of mail until further notice. Ongoing (issue start date: 06/11/15)

Egypt – Due to the suspension of flights from the UK to Egypt, delays to mail is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/11/15)

Finland – Due to strike action there are reports of minor delays to mail and parcels. Ongoing (issue start date: 02/11/15)

France – Unionised Air France workers have announced a nationwide strike. The extent of participation is still unclear. Delays to mail processing and delivery is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 05/10/15)

France – Delays in the processing and delivery of mail are expected in the Lyon (69002) area due industrial action. Resolved (issue start date: 26/10/15)

France – Due to technical problems at the Ajaccio & Creil sorting centres, delays in the processing and delivery of mail in these areas is to be expected. Resolved (issue start date: 26/10/15)

Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)

Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.

UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)

Somalia – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)

South Africa – Approximately 1,000 South African postal workers in the Johanessburg area are due to go on strike. Mail delivery to the area will be affected. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/10/15)

Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)

Tunisia – Tunis-Carthage International Airport is closed due to repair works. Delays to mail is to be expected. Resolved (issue start date: 14/10/15)

Yemen – All mail services to Yemen have now been suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/03/15)
