UK Service Updates

International Service Updates

GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved over recent months but and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, the possibility of further strike action and/or security issues remains. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise. Ongoing (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 04/04/16)

Australia – We have been advised of an upcoming strike by Australian Border Force planned for the 24th March and it is likely to cause delays for all parcels and mail sent to Australia.

UPDATE: The strike on the 24th was extended upto 8th April and the situation is now resolved. However, due to large volumes of mail awaiting processing, heavy delays are to be expected. Resolved (issue start date: 24/03/16 – updated 11/04/16)

Belgium – Due to the double explosion at Brussels airport, all air traffic has been stopped or deviated to other Belgium airports. The situation is on going and will be develop as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Following the attacks at Brussels airport air traffic is still limited to a few flights per day. This week many airlines have started to resume their flights, however the frequency of flights is still very low. Until access to Belgium via Brussels airport returns to normal, all mail to Belgium will transit via alternative air or road routes and delays should be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 22/03/16 – updated 12/04/16)

Belgium – On 6th April there was a road blockage which caused delays in deliveries. This is due to Belgium truckers protesting. Resolved (issue start date: 06/04/16 – updated 11/04/16)

Bolivia – Following a labour dispute, the Labour Unions of Postal Workers of Bolivia (SINDECOBOL) called a national strike as of 28th March. As a result, then there have been delays in the processing and delivery of incoming international mail.

UPDATE: The strike ended on the 6th April and service should return to normal. However, please be aware that due to the backlog of mail, significant delays should be expected until the backlog is cleared . Resolved (issue start date: 28/03/16 – updated 07/04/16)

China – We have been informed that China Customs are upgrading their IT systems and this may lead to delays in the receipt and processing of mail in China. Ongoing (issue start date: 12/11/15)

Egypt – Due to the suspension of flights from the UK to Egypt, delays to mail is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/11/15)

Fiji – Fiji Post have informed us that the country has suffered widespread damage in the wake of tropical cyclone Winston. This is likely to result in delays to mail services until further notice. Ongoing (issue start date: 20/02/16)

France – Delays are expected at the Nantes Rollin, Blois, La Garenne Levallois Soti, Les Pennes Mirabeau & Nice Barthelemy distribution centres due to industrial action. Resolved (issue start date: 21/03/16)

Greece – The Supreme Administration of Greek Civil Servants Trade Unions has announced a 24-hour strike on Thursday 7th April. The Air Traffic Control personnel are also participating in this strike. Flights destined/departing to/from Greek airports will be affected. These actions will affect both international and domestic mail transportation. Ongoing (issue start date: 06/04/16)

Italy – The following aviation strikes have been announced in Italy: • Air traffic control: 10:00 – 18:00, British Airways personnel in Italian Airports: 10:00 – 18:00, Alitalia flights from Rome’s airports: 10:00 – 14:00. Resolved (issue start date: 09/04/16 – updated 11/04/16)

Japan – Japan is strengthening their customs inspection of inbound mail as part of counter-terrorism measures. Therefore, Japan Post has requested all items containing goods are accompanied by the required documents. Please attach a customs declaration form to postal items containing goods, and provide accurate information on the contents for customs declaration. Failure to comply with this request could lead to delays or the return of mail items sent to Japan. mail services to Libya are currently suspended.  Ongoing (issue start date: 29/03/16)

Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended.  Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)

Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.

UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)

Somalia – All mail services to Somalia are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)

Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)

Yemen – All mail services to Yemen have now been suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/03/15)
