Service Updates

GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, there is a possibility that further strike action and/or security issues may cause further delays going forward. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise.  Resolved (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 17/08/15)

There are delays again at the Eurotunnel. Delays are expected on the crossing from France to UK, which would have a knock-on effect on the availability of outward bound transports and drivers. Inbound delays from France were up to 10 hours over the weekend. Ongoing (issue start date: 21/09/15)

Australia – It has been reported by The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection that a number of strike days are due to take place in several airports across Australia between 21st – 30th of September.  It is possible that this strike action may have an effect on mail delivery services over the next few days. Ongoing (issue start date: 21/09/15)

Brazil – Postmen from different regions of the country went on strike since Wednesday, 16th of September. There is a Business Continuity Plan to ensure normality in the provision of services and minimize possible impacts of business and population, however with the partial stoppage of distribution operations, there may be an impact on letter mail. Chile – On Wednesday 16th September an earthquake hit central Chile. This resulted in evacuations from homes and businesses in some coastal areas. At present it is unknown what effect if any this will have on mail services to and from Chile. Resolved (issue start date: 16/09/14)

China – High volumes of mail arriving in Shanghai and Guangzhou are resulting in backlogs and capacity issues for China Post. Delays to mail services are likely. Ongoing (issue start date: 03/11/14)

Finland – Due to a national strike that took place on 18th September in Finland, all mail services will be affected and there is an expected backlog of mail to clear which will resume by Tuesday 22nd September. Resolved (issue start date: 18/09/15)

France – There are delays of two days for some mail departments 54, 55, 57, 59, 75, 77, 78, 88, 91, 92, 93, 94 and 95 to 83 due to a technical problems on routes to Marseille. Ongoing (issue start date: 21/09/15)

Germany – Deutsche Post have advised that they will not be delivering letters on Mondays for the next 5 weeks. Please expect delays in mail traffic during this time. Newspapers and other magazines however will be delivered as normal. Resolved (issue start date: 13/08/15)

Italy – Due to heave rain in northern Italy, the following areas have been affected by landslides. Emilia-Romagna province of Piacenza, Liguria region and its port city of Genoa and the Veneto region. Disruptions and delays in mail processing and delivery expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 21/09/15)

Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)

Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.

UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)

Sardinia – Due to heavy rainfall and flooding, there have been a number of road closures. Delays to mail services are to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 02/10/15)

Somalia – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)

Spain – Spanish air traffic controllers announced to go on strike from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Flight cancellations and delays possible. Resolved (issue start date: 26/09/15)

Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)

United States – With the impending Papal visit and related events, impacts on postal services can be expected in the Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia regions. Delays in mail processing and delivery is expected. Resolved (issue start date: 22/09/15)

Uruguay – Uruguay Post have encountered delays in processing of international mail due to changes being made to their processes. The situation is being monitored to minimise any problems however delays are expected. Resolved (issue start date: 21/09/15)

Yemen – All mail services to Yemen have now been suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/03/15)
