Service Updates & Upcoming Public Holidays – w/c 11th January

Here you will find the latest global service updates and a list of upcoming worldwide public holidays. This is updated throughout the week with latest information available.

Service Updates

GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, there is a possibility that further strike action and/or security issues may cause further delays going forward. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise.

Delays are still expected on the crossing from France to UK, which would have a knock on effect on the availability of outward bound transport. There is no end date for this as the situation is continuing indefinitely. Ongoing (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 10/12/15)

Australia – Australia Post have advised that flooding in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region on New South Wales has prevented the collection and delivery of mail to the area since 6th January. Resolved (issue start date: 06/01/16)

Channel Islands – Due to bad weather in the English channel, there are delays to services to the Channel islands. This will also have an impact on deliveries from the Islands to mainland UK. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/01/16)

China – Due to heavy smog in Beijing leading to widespread traffic restrictions about half the cars in Beijing will be banned from the Road. The delivery of mail will be affected. Ongoing (issue start date: 08/11/14)

China – High volumes of mail arriving in Shanghai and Guangzhou are resulting in backlogs and capacity issues for China Post. Delays to mail services are likely. Ongoing (issue start date: 03/11/14)

Egypt – Due to the suspension of flights from the UK to Egypt, delays to mail is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/11/15)

France – There are delays to mail expected due to industrial action at the Neuilly sur Seine distribution centre PDC1 (92200) and the Rouen Madrillet (76600) distribution centre. Ongoing (issue start date: 11/01/16)

France – Delays are expected in the Strasbourg area due the annual Christmas market. There are a number of security restrictions in place in the City Centre. Delays are expected until after Christmas. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/11/15)

Italy – Poste Italiane have advised that there may be delays expected for all outbound items due to an outage of IT systems. Resolved (issue start date: 30/12/15)

India – Heavy rain and flooding in the state of Tamil Nadu has caused disruption to all mail services in Chennai, Pudcherry and the surrounding areas in India. Delays have been occurring since 30th November and due to the severity of the flooding, it is not yet known how long mail services will be disrupted for. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/15)

Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)

Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.

UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)

Netherlands – Since Tuesday 5th January, PostNL have been dealing with extreme weather conditions in the north of the country. Delays to mail delivery is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start sate: 06/01/16)

Paraguay – Mail transport and deliveries are facing disruption due to severe flooding in certain areas of the country. Ongoing (issue start sate: 11/01/16)

Somalia – All mail services to Somalia are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)

Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)

Yemen – All mail services to Yemen have now been suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/03/15)
