Service Updates

GENERAL: The situation at Calais and the Channel Tunnel have improved and over the last week transport services have been returning to normal. However, there is a possibility that further strike action and/or security issues may cause further delays going forward. We will advise accordingly if and when new events arise.  Ongoing (issue start date: 23/06/15 – updated 26/10/15)

Australia – Australia Post have advised that staff employed by Australia Border Force have announced round-the-clock industrial action at the inbound Australian exchange offices from Monday 7th to Monday 14th December. Australia Post expects disruption and delays to inbound mail all next week. Resolved (issue start date: 07/12/15 – updated: 10/12/15)

Australia – Due to extreme weather in Sydney on the 16th December leading to flooding, destruction of traffic lights and power lines and the closure of Sydney airport. International mail traffic to Sydney has been diverted to Brisbane. Delays to mail delivery is expected. Resolved (issue start date: 16/12/15)

China – Due to heavy smog in Beijing leading to widespread traffic restrictions about half the cars in Beijing will be banned from the Road. The delivery of mail will be affected. Ongoing (issue start date: 08/11/14)

China – High volumes of mail arriving in Shanghai and Guangzhou are resulting in backlogs and capacity issues for China Post. Delays to mail services are likely. Ongoing (issue start date: 03/11/14)

Egypt – Due to the suspension of flights from the UK to Egypt, delays to mail is to be expected. Ongoing (issue start date: 04/11/15)

France – Delays are expected in the Strasbourg area due the annual Christmas market. There are a number of security restrictions in place in the City Centre. Delays are expected until after Christmas. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/11/15)

Greece – Hellenic Post have informed us that the Confederation of the Greek workers and the Association of the Civil Servants have announced a 24-hour strike on Thursday 3rd of December. The strike will affect both international and domestic mail collection and delivery. Ongoing (issue start date: 13/12/15)

Libya – All mail services to Libya are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 16/07/14)

Nepal – An earthquake, approximately 50 miles north west of Kathmandu, has caused severe damage in northern Nepal. Severe disruption to mail services nationwide is to be expected.

UPDATE: All mail services in Nepal have been officially suspended and Kathmandu Airport is now closed to all commercial cargo due to the humanitarian relief effort in the region. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/04/15 – updated 30/04/15)

Portugal – Lisbon Metro drivers have announced strikes from the 9th to the 14th December. This may have an impact on mail delivery in the area. Ongoing (issue start date: 09/12/15)

Somalia – All mail services to Somalia are currently suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 30/11/91)

Spain – Due to IT problems on Thursday 3rd December, Correos has reported delays in the delivery of letters and parcels, extending into Friday 4th December. Ongoing (issue start date: 03/12/15)

Ukraine – Delivery of mail for the Crimea and Sevastopol (postal codes 95000 – 99999) regions remains suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 18/03/14)

Uruguay – There has been industrial action at the Uruguayan Association of Postal Workers (AFPU) since 17th November 2015. These measures have affected the processing of inward international mail.  Resolved (issue start date: 17/11/15)

Yemen – All mail services to Yemen have now been suspended. Ongoing (issue start date: 27/03/15)
